 SIDEWINDERS DEFEAT ZEPHYRS 7 TO 3
Series resumes on Tuesday at 7:05 PM.
Metairie, LA – Andrew Good pitched six shutout innings to lead the Tucson Sidewinders (62-61) to a 7 to 3 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs (63-59) on Monday Night at Zephyr Field.
The Sidewinders would take a 7 to 0 lead after six innings as Danny Ramirez, Brian Gordon, Brad Cresse and Johnny Carvajal would hit home runs off Zephyrs starting pitcher Doug Sessions. The Z’s would mount a rally in the ninth scoring three runs off Sidewinders reliever Lee Marshall. With two runners on and two out, Alan Zinter hit a fly ball off Sidewinders pitcher Brian Bruney to center field. Luis Terrero made a spectacular play and robbed Zinter of a home run that ended the game.
Good (3-3) picked up the win pitching six innings scattering nine hits while striking out five. Bruney threw six pitches to retire Zinter and record his ninth save of the season. Sessions (6-4) suffered the loss allowing seven runs on eight hits while striking out two.
The series with the Sidewinders continues on Tuesday at 7:05 PM. D.J. Houlton (2-0, 5.19) is scheduled to start for the Zephyrs and Chris Capuano (7-3, 3.12) for the Sidewinders. The game can be heard on WTIX-AM 690 and at www.zephyrsbaseball.com with Tim Grubbs and Ron Swoboda calling the action.
